Triggers
If you know the enemy and know yourself you need not fear the results of a hundred battles - Sun Tzu
How can you hope to defeat an enemy that is almost completely unseen? How can you begin to fight one whose scope is unknown, when the processes that cause your symptoms remain undiscovered and the innumerable interrelated causal relationships are not identified so they remain uninvestigated? Financial domination is not you looking at a hot girl, getting horny and weak because she's telling you to spend your hard earned money on frivolous things she doesn't even care about. Financial domination is the many psychological associations and chain reactions underlying and preceding your physical response. When scientists are trying to find a cure for a disease the discovery on how the pathogen causes disease, how it spreads, how it interacts with other external factors is considered a breakthrough. Information itself is considered revolutionary progress. Any insight you gain weakens the fetish because it offers you new ways to interrupt the pathological process which will likely diminish its impact on you. When you perceive your fetish as an immensity too expansive to view, too complicated to understand, and something that's imposing its power on you - you are helpless to fight it. When you can see your problems, clearly and progressively more deeply, you can hurt it, and that's when you start to control it. It's that inner world of findom, the one within you, where you can hack away at it until it no longer can exert much force at all.
Imagine you have a well cared for home, full of expensive but fragile possessions but once every two or three days, for an hour, you must babysit a hyperactive 7 year old who is bent on tearing apart your house and reducing everything in it to valueless pieces. You have the time, opportunity, advantage of idiot proofing that house. Well every few days we are that destructive idiot. Many finsubs go thru a constant cycle of paying, getting depressed, getting angry, less angry, horny and paying again. We are emotionally reactive, all flexed up for change but unable to become that dispassionate observer who calmly assesses the problem and directs us down a well planned path to some sort of safe passage. We have days to idiot proof our house from that maniac that we know we will become when we are in subspace but so many of us use that time to lash out at ourselves or at dommes. So my advice is to get to work. List five to ten triggers that augment your findom urges and make relapses more likely. For example, a few relapse catalysts I noticed immediately were: stress, a higher than usual sex drive, and free time. Since they are probably universal triggers for subs my next blog will be about how I broke these triggers down, and then made a few life adjustments that made them much less likely to ever initiate a relapse again.
